Prospects Seek Out Experts

Why would a prospect hire you to manage their property?  What makes you better than the next property manager?  These are questions that need to be on your mind when starting a property management business.  Plus marketing becomes easy when people think of you first as the “property management guru” people will seek you out.

Starting out you may have little direct experience.  But you can become a local subject matter expert.  I discuss marketing techniques in my how to start a property management business program but here are 3  ideas to get you started.  1)  Find a local group (local Board of Realtors?)  that you can get in front of and discuss property management 2) contact 6 newspaper writers and let them know you are a resource for property management and ask if they have any upcoming real estate stories that you can provide some statistics for 3) find a local AM radio station that you can be a guest on.

The exposure from speaking engagements and press opportunities will help get your name out there.  Next take the picture of your speaking at the event, the quote in the paper and the audio clip from the radio and add them to your website and create a flyer that shows these experiences that you can give to prospects.

Now you will have several people who will refer business to you, you will have more marketing content and you will have enhanced credibility.  When you are positioned as the expert – selling will be easier.  Good luck!
